Great Jewish Literature: The Short Story

Thursdays, April 29, May 6, and May 13 at 7:30pm

Don’t have time to read an entire book? Join us for our new three-part series to discuss Jewish-themed literary short stories with Lisa Silverman, long-time book club facilitator, ex-Adat Ari El Day School librarian, and retired director of the Sperber Jewish Community Library at AJU.

Here is the story for Session 1 on April 29:

This allegorical story by famed Jewish writer Bernard Malamud follows the journey of a crow named Schwartz, nicknamed “Jewbird,” who escapes persecution by anti-Semitic birds and attempts assimilation by finding a home with a New York City family, at his own risk.
