Mission & Pedagogy

Hillel says:

"If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?" Ethics of the Fathers, 1:14

Rose Engel Early Childhood Center Mission Statement:

“We explore our world with our community to prepare us for the future.”

Our Early Childhood Center seeks to encourage each child to explore the world around them, to relate to others socially within a community setting, and to gain a sense of their Jewish identity. For over 15 years, the Adat Ari El ECC has been inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We share the belief that children are innate learners; that educators facilitate, inspire, and provoke children to explore more and to be excited about their own ideas while also sharing their knowledge with others.

Our children, their families, and our staff are all valued components of our community. Parents partner with the ECC  by supporting learning, facilitating activities, communicating with teachers. Together we are raising our children. Jewish customs and traditions are at the core of our program.  The Jewish holidays are taught through an integrated curriculum that encompasses music, art, dance, science, language, math and cooking.  The concepts of kindness, compassion, and community are incorporated into the daily experience.
