Making Our Community a Kehillah Kedosha

Dear Adat Ari El Families,

In the beginning of the school year, I wrote about the beauty of Shabbat Under the Stars and the power that we have to make our community a Kehillah Kedosha.  I wrote this then â€" not knowing just how special the community of Adat Ari El really is. As we come to the end of my first full year with the Day School, I am blown away with the dedication and love that the community here has, not only for the school, but for each other, as well.

On Saturday, June 1 we will come together much in the same way as we did for Shabbat Under the Stars, but this time, for Havdallah Under the Stars. The Havdallah service gets its name from the Hebrew word L'Havdil (to separate). When Shabbat is over on Saturday night, we say a series of prayers that remind us that we are leaving the holy (Shabbat) and entering the ordinary. We know that even though we are saying goodbye to Shabbat, it will come again soon. What we have created here this year is nothing short of holy.

We have come together for Shabbat dinners to see our students take the reins and lead us in prayer. We have watched them perform their IGD dances and felt prouder and prouder everytime we saw them. We celebrated birthdays together and helped each other through tougher times. Our Kehillah (community) is stronger now than it was in the beginning of the school year. With all of that being said, I hope you will join me in saying L'hitraot (see you later) to our community on Saturday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m.  For more information, please contact the office.

Shabbat Shalom,

Eric
