ATHLETICS

Here at ADAT, health and wellness go hand in hand.

The development of both physical skills and self-esteem are of equal importance in creating confident, physically adept students. Ours is truly a Physical Education program, in which students don’t simply play competitive sports. They learn the importance of warming up, the benefits of strengthening muscle groups, and why it’s a joy to be physically fit. The goal for every student is measurable progress, healthy enjoyment, and a life-long interest in being physically fit and active.

ADAT League Sports

Our ADAT Lions participate in co-ed team sports with other independent schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Sports played include:

Fall: Soccer
Winter: Basketball

Healthy Food, Healthy Souls

ADAT’s integrated nutrition program, based on revised federal guidelines (ChooseMyPlate.gov), steers children toward taking responsibility for making healthy food choices; while our P.E. specialists actively engage with students during lunchtime, encouraging and reinforcing these concepts.

A.C.T. F.A.I.R.

This is our school sports mantra – it stands for Acknowledgement, Courtesy, Thougtfulness and Follow the Rules, Always do Your Best, Include Everyone, Respect Your Opponent. The first word, A.C.T., emphasizes how we must approach one another – acknowledge others' individual strengths and weaknesses, be considerate in all dealings, and be tolerant of differences. The second word, F.A.I.R., relates more directly to expected behavior when engaged in activities. These lessons are taught in P.E. classes and reinforced regularly during sports games and recesses.

Maccabiah Games Day

Annual school-wide sports event that highlights cooperative play, teamwork, and school spirit.

Jump-a-Thon

A bi-annual fundraiser for the school, this jump roping festival is a great motivator for students to practice and improve their levels of fitness.
