Nut-free recipe lists

As you know, we keep our students safe by sending lunches and snacks to school that do not contain nuts. I thought I would share some menu ideas to help you in this effort! Though some of these recipes contain meat, the majority of them are either pareve or dairy, and great to take to school.

Happy lunch packing!

Outside The Classroom

6th Grade Spotlight - Etai Amir

How long have you been at ADAT?
I started ADAT in 1st Grade, so this is my 6th.

What do you do for fun outside of school?
Outside of school, I like to play tennis, as well as piano and guitar.

What do you like best about ADAT or makes ADAT so special?
What I like best about ADAT is that I've been here a long time and it feels comfortable for me.

What was your favorite grade at ADAT and why?

So far, 6th grade has been my favorite because I have a lot of great teachers.

What will you miss most about ADAT when you move on to Middle School?
I'm going to miss all of the amazing teachers that I had when I go to middle school.

What is something you learned at ADAT that you think will stay with you in the future?
At ADAT, I learned how to become a better listener and pay closer attention in class, which will help me in the future.

What is it about Design Thinking that has helped you learn differently?
I like how the ZDL was designed and the way it is structured has helped me focus and think of new ideas. ZDL 5 is my favorite room because it's very comfortable in there and the green screen allows us to do a lot of really cool things!

In the Community

The Festifun show will be held for the sixth year on March 31, 2019.

This year we received special treatment and every family whose children attend our school will receive a CD with songs and a DVD of the show by buying tickets for the show.

Tickets for the families of our school community will be sold at a discounted rate for seats located in the gallery.

The ticket price is $35 per child or adult.

All those who choose to purchase tickets in the hall complex will still be entitled to receive the CD and DVD as a gift.

Please contact Naama Malka with questions (818) 269-7451.

North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry

NHIFP is organizing a Souper Bowl Sunday seasonal soup can drive:

"Engage in a mitzvah and help tackle hunger by donating cans of high protein and hearty soup for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry by participating in Souper Bowl Sunday. Our goal is 200 cans donated by February 8, 2019 - let's make it happen! Bring your soup donations to the blue bin outside the Deiber Chapel." - Rabbi Yarkin

Thank you!

Havdalah Highlights

We start each week gathered together as a school for a Havdalah ceremony, during which we highlight students who we have noticed acting in ways that carry out our mission. Because we are so proud of our students, we wanted to share their stories with you!

4th grader Sara R. is always friendly and inclusive not only with her fellow fourth graders but with other students on the yard as well.

3rd grader Mayaan G. went and got Katriella her lunch while she was sitting in the office upset. It made a huge difference in Katriella's day.

5th grade students were taking leftover birthday treats and one student did not get any. Seeing he was upset, Dinn D. gave him his own without being asked.

4th grader Olivia S. always makes a point of saying "good morning" as students arrive for the day. It is such a nice way for all of us to start our day.

6th graders Maya G., Alison S.Bianca L., Abby Y. volunteered to form a committee to decorate their classroom. In doing so, they have chosen to give up recess and lunch periods in order to create a better learning space for themselves and their peers.
