Leadership Blog - Happy 2019!
Dear Parents:
Welcome back to school and happy 2019! It has been so wonderful seeing all of you and your children this week â€" hearing fun stories from vacations, coming together for our first Havdalah of 2019, and jumping right back into our learning!
2019 is going to be a busy and fun-filled year at ADAT. In about a month, we will have our incredible Intergenerational Day, which you and your loved ones will not want to miss. About a month after that, we will have our biennial Jump-a-Thon â€" raising money for new water-filling stations. And then, on May 4, we have our 2nd Annual Day School Celebration â€" an evening of fun, food, dancing, and community! Mark your calendars today!
Around campus, you may have noticed that our Adat Ari El Cafe is open for business and expanding its offerings everyday. Groundworks Coffee and Tea has joined us to offer their delicious beverages, and food â€" fresh from our kosher kitchen! Drop by for a quick drink or snack or stay a while and enjoy the space. The proceeds from the cafe benefits our Building Fund, which pays for security improvements for our students and campus. The cafe's hours of operation are 7:30AM-4:00PM each day, with the exception of Tuesday, when they are open until 6:00PM. Now you can start skipping your daily trip to Starbucks for a cup of coffee!
On that note, earlier today, I sent out an update on our Security Town Hall meeting. In it, I mentioned that we will be postponing our previously scheduled meeting for this coming Tuesday, due to the date change of the audit. We are, however, continuing to pursue the other aspects of our security plan. We will update you when we have new information to share, but please be assured of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of everyone on our campus, especially your children.
It's only the first week back, but we are most definitely back in action. We look forward to sharing in 2019 with you and your children.
Wishing you a fulfilling year ahead and a Shabbat Shalom,
Shara

Havdalah Highlights
We start each week gathered together as a school for a Havdalah ceremony, during which we highlight students who we have noticed acting in ways that carry out our mission. Because we are so proud of our students, we wanted to share their stories with you!
6th grader Bailey S. got out on purpose in four square so that a third grader could be the ace.
Shira L. in 5th grade helped Gabriel H. in TK with getting a snack from the vending machine.
In third grade, Mikka G. showed a great deal of compassion and empathy for another student who was having a tough time in class that day.
In Kindergarten, Daniel M. and Michael T. persevered in our design thinking mitzvah project for homeless animals when it proved to be challenging! They worked extremely hard and helped other friends that needed help as well! Bravo!
Fifth grader Daniella M. was helping so many students at the vending machine. She was patient and kind to each student she helped. Instead of playing or hanging out with her friends, she chose to help others.
TKer Daniella D. offered to share her stuffed animal with Liam. Zeke B. cleaned up paper in the bathroom without being asked.
