Tehillim: The Book of Psalms
Student Rabbi Jill Gold Wright
4 Sessions | Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm
RSVP Required.
Course Description
The Book of Psalms has 150 poems, which were written over four centuries. They are beautiful hymns and prayers, written as praise and laments, used for pilgrimages, in the royal court, for communal thanksgiving, and as private, personal introspection. We won’t read all of them, but we will explore some of each category - learning a bit of Hebrew and delving into the poetry of different English translations. We will look at related poems and might even do some singing! A lot of Psalms appear in our siddur! Come along to learn how to recognize them and figure out why they’re there!
