Chavurah

The term "havurah" means fellowship and comes from the Hebrew word "haver," meaning friend. We encourage our member families to connect and form new havurot by getting together to celebrate shared interests and hopefully, create meaningful bonds.

From one of our members in a havurah here at Adat Ari El:

"I have been fortunate to be part of a havurah for the past five years. We started with four families who met at Adat. We all knew each other casually, and enjoyed seeing each other at synagogue. Eventually, one of the moms suggested we start a havurah.  We quickly discovered that we enjoyed sharing our traditions and starting new ones together. The children in our group range in age from 11 to 15.  We have enjoyed Yom Kippur Break Fast and Passover Seders together as well as hikes, days at the beach and dinners at favorite restaurants. These are the people I eat Chinese food with on Christmas! We are also there as a support system for each other. It can be something simple like feeding a pet when someone goes on vacation or bringing food and a hug when a parent passes away.  I know I have someone I can always rely on and who can count on me."
