Camp Rosh Hashanah

The Camp Rosh Hashanah Committee at Adat Ari El organizes a vibrant and immersive camp experience to celebrate the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Held at Camp Alonim at Brandeis Bardin in Simi Valley, this event features a variety of activities suitable for all ages, including discussions, a ropes course, rock climbing, dancing, tashlich, and swimming. The committee aims to foster community engagement and spiritual growth, providing an opportunity for families to connect and celebrate the holiday together at no cost.
Catering
Chair: Jeff Kinrich
The Catering Committee at Adat Ari El is responsible for overseeing all food and beverage services for events held at the synagogue. This committee oversees our relationship with our external caterer(s) and ensures that meals are prepared in accordance with kosher guidelines, providing a range of catering options for various occasions, from community gatherings to private celebrations.
Development

Endowment Fund

Finance

Gala

The Gala Committee at Adat Ari El is responsible for organizing the synagogue's annual Gala event, which serves as a major fundraising initiative and community celebration honoring significant contributions from members of the community. This committee plans all aspects of the Gala, including theme development, decorations, entertainment, programming, and catering, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
Hesed
Co-Chairs: Natalie Lembeck and Amy Hermes
The Hesed Committee at Adat Ari El focuses on community outreach by addressing the needs of congregants during times of joy and sorrow. This committee embodies the Jewish value of "hesed," or loving-kindness, by providing support in various forms, including meal deliveries, transportation assistance, congratulatory notes and baby gifts, and phone calls to families in mourning. The Hesed Committee aims to ensure that all members feel cared for and supported, fostering a strong sense of community within the synagogue. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in these efforts, reinforcing the importance of compassion and connection among congregants.
House & Grounds

The House & Grounds Committee at Adat Ari El is responsible for oversight of the Adat Ari El professional staff who are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the synagogue's facilities and grounds. This committee also oversees various aspects of property management, ensuring that the physical environment is safe, welcoming, and conducive to the congregation's activities.
Members of the committee work on projects related to landscaping, building repairs, and facility upgrades, collaborating with contractors and volunteers to enhance the synagogue's infrastructure. The committee's efforts play an essential role in preserving the beauty and functionality of Adat Ari El, contributing to a positive experience for all congregants and visitors.
Marketing & Communications

The Marketing & Communications Committee at Adat Ari El is focused on promoting the synagogue's programs, events, and initiatives to both current members and the wider community. This committee is comprised of AAE staff and lay leaders in the ECC, JLC, and AAE, and develops strategic marketing plans that utilize various channels, including social media, newsletters, and community outreach, to enhance visibility and engagement.
By crafting compelling messages and materials, the Marketing & Communications Committee works to attract new members while keeping existing congregants informed and involved. Its efforts are key in communicating a strong brand identity for Adat Ari El a fostering vibrant, connected community.

The Membership Committee at Adat Ari El is primarily focused on congregational member recruitment and retention, implementing various internal and external programs and initiatives to engage and strengthen the synagogue and its community. Memorial space

The Memorial Space Committee at Adat Ari El is dedicated to creating a sacred and meaningful area within the main sanctuary for congregants to honor and remember their loved ones. Committee members collaborate with designers and contractors to develop a space that is both aesthetically beautiful and spiritually significant.
Working closely with synagogue leadership and stakeholders, the Memorial Space Committee ensures the memorial space reflects the values and traditions of the community. Through their efforts, they create a lasting tribute that provides comfort, reflection, and connection for generations to come.
Nominating

The Nominating Committee at Adat Ari El is composed of both members of the Board of Directors and active synagogue members, working collaboratively to identify and recommend candidates for leadership positions within the synagogue. This diverse committee ensures that a wide range of perspectives and experiences are considered when selecting individuals for the Board and Executive leadership roles.
By evaluating nominees based on their skills, dedication, and alignment with the synagogue's mission, the Nominating Committee plays a pivotal role in developing effective leadership and active participation within the community. Purim

The Purim Committee at Adat Ari El organizes the fun and revenue-generating Purim Carnival, an annual highlight for the synagogue. This committee plans and executes a variety of engaging activities, including games, food stalls, and entertainment, creating festive atmosphere for families, congregants and community members.
This Open House Purim Carnival not only provides a joyful experience but also serves as a significant fundraising opportunity that helps support various programs and initiatives within the synagogue. By celebrating the holiday in such an interactive way, the Purim Committee helps showcase our community to the surrounding neighborhoods while supporting the financial health of Adat Ari El.
Religious Life

The Religious Life Committee at Adat Ari El is dedicated to enhancing the spiritual and religious experiences of this egalitarian congregation. This committee works closely with clergy and lay leaders to develop and implement programs that promote Jewish worship, learning, and community engagement.
Key responsibilities include planning services, innovating new ways to engage and celebrate the holidays, and educational opportunities that deepen members' connections to their faith and traditions. The committee is committed to the goal of increasing both individual spiritual growth and active participation in synagogue religious activities.
Shabbaton

The Shabbaton Committee at Adat Ari El is dedicated to planning and organizing the synagogue’s annual Community Shabbaton—a weekend retreat designed to foster spiritual growth, meaningful connection, and community bonding. The committee curates a joyful, enriching experience featuring religious services, meaningful discussions, and engaging workshops; icebreakers and communal meals; adult and children’s programming, sports, and relaxation—all centered around the core themes of connection, spirituality, and reflection, and most importantly, doing it B’yachad (together).
By cultivating a warm and inclusive atmosphere, the Shabbaton Committee channels the spirited energy of Jewish summer camp into a multi-generational setting. Their work fosters a vibrant environment where members can unwind, make new connections, deepen existing relationships, and share moments of laughter, friendship, and Jewish pride.
Social Action
Co-Chairs: Rachel Eli and Rabbi Leslie Alexander
The Social Action Committee at Adat Ari El is dedicated to connecting congregants with meaningful volunteer opportunities. This committee actively seeks and secures partnerships with organizations that welcome participants of all ages, allowing members to engage in acts of kindness that make a lasting impact both locally and in the State of Israel. Through these efforts, the committee empowers the community to take part in social justice initiatives, outreach programs, and hands-on service projects that reflect the values of compassion and responsibility.
A cornerstone of its work is organizing Mitzvah Day, an annual event that unites the Adat Ari El community for a dedicated day of service. Additionally, the committee coordinates monthly Shabbat afternoon volunteer opportunities, offering a unique way to honor Shabbat through acts of giving and connection. By prioritizing engagement, collaboration, and action, the Social Action Committee strengthens Adat Ari El’s commitment to tikkun olam—repairing the world—while fostering a deeper sense of community and shared responsibility.
