Kesher (Connection)
Tuesdays, 4:00–6:15 PM
Kesher is our Jewish learning community for Kitah Gan–Kitah Zayin (TK–7th grade). Meaning “connection” in Hebrew, Kesher helps learners build meaningful relationships with Judaism’s traditions, culture, and wisdom. Each week, students engage in grade-specific curriculum that blends Jewish learning, Hebrew, and community building. All learners experience Hebrew through brachot (blessings) and tefillah (prayer), along with opportunities for creativity, friendship, and hands-on exploration.
Registration
A New Registration Process
Instead of using one long form, we’re splitting Kesher registration into two shorter forms. (1 child = 2 forms; 2 children = 3 forms; etc)
Why the change?
-
When everything is packed into one form, families with multiple children often miss important sections.
-
Having a separate form for each student ensures we collect complete and accurate information for every learner.
-
It helps us streamline our class rosters by organizing student data more efficiently.
Daily Schedule
Kesher now offers two rotating schedules—one for weeks with upcoming holidays and one for weeks without. While the structure shifts slightly, both models allow time for community, tefillah, and learning.
-
Kitah Gan–Bet (TK–2nd): The day includes grade-level learning and Hebrew Through Movement, with added dedicated tefillah (prayer) time on certain weeks.
-
Kitah Gimmel–Zayin (3rd–7th): Students now have regular community time (Z'man Kesher) and tefillah (prayer) blocks in addition to grade-level learning. Depending on the schedule, 4th–6th graders also rotate through elective classes (peulot) such as cooking, STEM, or art, enriching their Jewish experience in creative ways. On alternate schedules, 4th-7th graders meet with their Bayit (houses) for mixed-grade level learning.
Hebrew Cirriculum
Gan-Bet (TK-2nd)
Our Kitah Gan-Kitah Bet (TK-2) classes participate in a program called Hebrew Through Movement (HTM). Hebrew Through Movement introduces Hebrew in a playful and meaningful way, creating a positive first link between students and the Hebrew language.
Hebrew Through Movement (HTM) is supported by the latest brain research on learning, providing an aural foundation for Hebrew that opens the door to more facile Hebrew decoding and reading.
Gimmel (3rd)
All Kitah Gimel (3rd) students will participate in a dedicated 40-minute Hebrew learning block each week during their Sunday Kesher class.
This format will allow students to:
- Build a strong foundation in Hebrew decoding and vocabulary
- Begin preparing for the more structured Hebrew tracks in 4th–6th grade
Dalet-Zayin (4th-7th)
Students in Kitah Gimmel–Kitah Vav (3rd–6th)—optional for Kitah Zayin (7th)—develop their Hebrew skills through a model that allows families to choose the option that works best for their learner. Both formats focus on decoding, letter recognition, fluency, tefillah (prayer) and brachot (blessings).
