Study, Pray, Discuss - A New Rosh Hashanah Service
There will be a new service for the first day of Rosh Hashanah! Join together in the Deiber Chapel after the morning service in the Sanctuary.
We will be blending text study and discussion with Musaf and closing prayers, and sharing some contemporary readings. (Tefillah / prayer will be abbreviated to make time for study).
If you have always wanted to learn more about why Rosh Hashanah services include three sections, Malchuyot (kingship), Zichronot (memories)and Shofarot (sounding the Shofar), join us. The learning will encourage us to think and ask questions, but you need not have any text study experience to attend.
On Yom Kippur we will be using the same format to study text surrounding the meaning of Yom Kippur, what we are atoning for, why we fast, forgiveness and how Yom Kippur can be spiritual. Learn why the conclusion of Yom Kippur is a celebration (other than the chance to eat). We will share thoughts and questions, be together in prayer and hear from sages throughout the generations.
The service will be led by Rabbi Leslie Alexander and Stuart Zimring.
